Today, Clydach is a dormitory town to Swansea with an excellent road system and with easy access to the M4 motorway. There is a frequent bus service to Swansea and good road links to the top of the Swansea Valley, Neath and Ammanford. The world famous Mond nickel works is the major employer with around 240 staff, appreciably down on the 2,000 and more employed in the early part of the 20th Century. For education purposes, there is an infants, a junior and a primary school, as well as a Roman Catholic primary school and a welsh medium primary. There is a mixture of shops, a post office and a bank.
