About The Society

The Clydach Historical Society was founded in 1983, and is dedicated to keeping alive the history of Clydach, and making it available for others to enjoy.

The Society meets in Clydach Community Centre on Vardre Road.  Meetings usually take the form of a talk given by a guest speaker, often illustrated, and a chance to speak to other members and catch up with the latest news.  The topics chosen for the meetings can be on a local subject, or of a wider ranging interest, with the aim of giving the audience an entertaining time.

The Annual General Meeting is held in May, giving members a chance to hear more specific details about the society and the plans for the coming year.  Committee member elections are held at this time.

The Society also produces a newsletter, roughly four a year, containing articles about the Clydach area and beyond written by both members and non-members.  The Society has also produced a number of publications; Photographic Souvenirs of Old Clydach and District, some of which are available to buy from the society.
